Overview
Jacaranda House is conveniently located in the south west of the island of Tobago, on the Caribbean side away from the Atlantic trade winds and within half an hour of the airport and the capital, Scarborough, as well as the golf courses, restaurants and most of the tourist amenities.
It is situated on a hill some 150 feet above sea level with panoramic views over the Caribbean Sea, the hills up the island and the village green below.
The house was designed by one of Trinidad’s leading architects who incorporated West Indian features into a modern design. It has, as a major feature, virtually no glass but folding louvre doors on three sides, made from beautiful local hardwoods, which control the amount of light and air flowing through.
The result is a very airy and spacious house with high ceilings, cool floor tiles and prevailing breezes sweeping through.
Jacaranda House is ideal for families who want to have a holiday all together, and for those wishing to unwind and enjoy a relaxing pleasurable holiday in surroundings of unrivalled peace and beauty.

The house is set facing northwest above its own magnificent 30 foot swimming pool with a vanishing edge overlooking the sparkling Caribbean Sea, a stonework pool deck and a lawn area. The house is surrounded by tropical plants and trees to create shade and to provide an abundance of mouth watering fruit. You can prepare a barbecue in the garden and eat by the pool or under the bougainvillea covered shelter.

The house overlooks the local village green which is surrounded with simple local restaurants, a bar, a mini-market, and ATM (Hole in the Wall) and bicycle hire shop.
Further away are a wider range of restaurants, supermarkets, two beautiful golf courses, fresh fish direct from the fishermen, fruit and vegetable stalls by the road side, snorkelling, deep sea fishing, wind surfing, sailing and a bird sanctuary.
Finally there are trips you can make to the rain forests, waterfalls, beautiful deserted beaches, fishing villages and Little Tobago bird sanctuary at the other end of the island.

About Tobago
Tobago is the smaller island of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago, lying 11 degrees north of the equator, just south of Barbados and almost within sight of the coast of Venezuela. The island is about 27 miles long by 9 miles at its widest.
The southern end of the island is flat, then it rises to nearly 2,000 feet to the rain forest, the oldest national park in the world, which was recognised by the British Parliament at the end of the 18th century. The nicest beaches are on the Caribbean side, sandy, sheltered from the trade winds and appear deserted even at the island’s busiest. Tobago is also very popular for Caribbean weddings, Jacaranda House having been the base for more than one.
Attractions
Tobago has two major coral reefs. The Buccoo Reef, at the southern tip, can be visited on glass bottomed boats from the famous Pigeon point beach. Speyside, at the northern end, is a major scuba diving centre and is considered one of the best diving reefs in the Caribbean and where you can swim with manta rays
Little Tobago, just off this coast, is a bird sanctuary with some rare species living there and tours across to it are easily available.
Driving around the island is safe and easy, if slow, otherwise taxi drivers will take you around for reasonable rates and be your guide at the same time. Alternatively you can book with one of the local tour companies who are very good.
Evening entertainment can be found at local bars and some restaurants with steel bands and drums including the well renown ‘Sunday School’ at Buccoo Village. Some hotels also have evening entertainment which is open to non-residents.
Local arts & crafts can be found all over the island but in particular at Store Bay, near the airport. You can also get some lovely dyed cotton shawls and dresses.
Climate
The climate is beautifully tropical and usually gentle breezes blow with temperatures fluctuating between the high 70s and the high 80s (25 to 32?C).
This gives a wonderful hot but pleasant climate most of the year around. Even in the height of the ‘Season’ (December to April) Tobago is never crowded and the beaches empty and spacious. Whilst from September to November more frequent rain storms occur they usually only last 2/3 days and are followed by sunny days and occasional showers again.

My husband and I have just returned from the most fantastic holiday in your stunning and beautiful Jacaranda House.
Thank you so much for sharing such an amazing home. I was completely taken aback each day at sunrise at the magnificent views and pure tranquillity.
We had a truly fantastic time and loved each and every moment. The Island which we explored in detail was beautiful, we certainly made good use of the car.
I will be singing the praises to anyone who listens for a long time to come and will certainly be coming back for more.
Once again, sincere thanks to you and all your caring and superb staff.

Jacaranda house was better than I had imagined! The house is beautiful, with a nice private pool and panoramic views of the ocean. This villa is perfect for people looking for a relaxing vacation where you can either cook meals at the house or go out to restaurants close by.
The property was very well-maintained, and the housekeeper was very knowledgeable and helpful. The owner provided great customer service in the weeks leading up to our stay. I would recommend this property to anyone staying on the island of Tobago!
If you're there on a Sunday night, you have to check out "Sunday School" in Buccoo. It's a fun party that has a good mix of locals and tourists, all dancing to the sound of a steel pan band. It was the highlight of our trip!

What a spot you have there. View, pool and a great house. It is obviously run very well, unlike some of the other places we have come across - and we know this because it's our business too. We do this stuff every day so your house was a delight especially because it all worked!
Ulin [the housekeeper] - what a breath of fresh air. We loved her chirpy 'hi hi' every day and she does a good job with a smile on her face. The only thing that went a bit wrong was the pool. The guys took a day or two off and the pool went to the dogs so they had to shock it when they got back and we had to stay out of it for a day. No major problem though.
My favourite spot Black Rock /Grafton beach was grumpy some days and like a mill pond on others. Had some cracking rain but mostly at night.
Anyway, we shall recommend the house to interested parties and hope to return at some point ourselves.

WHAT A DREAM! Felt at home immediately. We enjoyed the wonderful views over the Caribbean Sea. Excellent location, everything was in reach (restaurants, beaches, Sunday School, goat races). We especially enjoyed Ulin’s hospitality and her friendliness.

Leg 1 of our honeymoon – and what a lovely way to relax after a 4 day wedding in France. We loved the tranquillity and highly recommend buying fish from fishermen on the road – 20TT per pound!
